Broken Dreams

It seems with every poem I write
The tears slip down my face,
As I bring all my broken dreams
From their secret hiding place.
And I put them in Your hands dear God
Because I know Your power,
But then I take them back again,
Sometimes within the hour.
I don't know why I do this, God,
Because I have no doubt,
That You can heal my broken dreams
And turn my life about.
I guess I always thought I had to do
things on my own,
But that was long before I came to know
You as my own.
So please, dear God, take my broken dreams
And don't give them back to me,
Until they're once again like new,
I humbly ask of Thee.
