Boiled Froglegs

There was a time when it felt just right
We relaxed, we were at peace
Contented, consumed, play was our plight
Most everyone slept let others fight.
We smiled, we cried, we fought to spite
The creature never slept he owned the night.
No one knew what was to come
It feels so good, I'll never numb.
The first blow hidden, discovered and known
Hearts became heavy and burdensome.
Reprobates flourished, violence grew,
Some knew then, we were through.
Mockers and scoffers burgeon with fright,
People cry of a whale's dumb plight?
Who dares to speak out, stop and run?
There's nothing left, I'll never numb
The heat still rises, you're having fun
Remember, you said, I'll never numb
There's nothing left, what can you do,
Cooked, done, finished, you're through.
