Blackened Heart

My heart is lain bare before you,
There is nothing I can hide
From your eye so perfectly true.
You see my terrible pride,
My jealousy and hatred too.
My heart is black inside,
Covered with strife mildew.
My sins here amplified,
My life all askew.
You see me deep inside
But you love me thru and thru.
I lay down my pride
And ask for help from you.
You throw my sin aside
And make my spirit new!
You take my hand and guide
Me down life's avenue,
And together we proudly stride
As this new life I ensue.
