Behind closed doors!

Behind our closed doors,
Life isn't always as it seems.
What we portray, is just what we dream.
Just the way we would like life to be.
So we just sit there and pretend.
To be happy, footloose, and fancy free.
Letting our worries and fears drift away.
To just be able to let our hair down.
Not to care what others say.
Even if it is for only one day.
For we know the real truth,
Of what lurks behind those doors.
Some people are gracious,
And pretend right along with us.
While others seem to look right through us.
As if they know the ugliness that exists.
We feel so unloved and so ashamed.
In our hearts, we think we are to be blamed.
Lying there wounded with our souls on the good.
That's why sometimes it's easier to just shut the door.
