Beginnings

Sitting alone by the window
listening to rain drops fall.
I wonder which one will make a difference.
Like so much of life around me
I thirst to be filled, even overwhelmed.
Last years rain has come and gone
remembered by the growth I see in trees and things.
I have rested to long on past memories.
It is time to make a new beginning.
To pour my life, my heart and my soul
into the lives of others again.
Only then will I be satisfied.
Thirst quenched along with those I touch.
Life is funny that way.
Only when we give ourselves away
are we found and then like the rain
are able to satisfy the thirst of others.
Yes, a new beginning each day must I become.
Listening to the rain drops fall I wonder
how will I make a difference today?
