Before Our First Hello

Long before our first hello somehow we seemed to know
that a day would come along
to make our hearts aglow.
Long before our first sashay somehow we seemed to sense
that a day would come along
to make our dance intense.
Long before our first embrace somehow we seemed to feel
that a day would come along
to make our touch appeal.
Long before our first "I Do" somehow we seemed to hold
that a day would come along
to make our lives enfold.
Long before our first homestead somehow we seemed to say
that a day would come along
to make our snug chalet.
Long before our first offspring somehow we seemed to mete
that a day would come along
to make our pick complete.
Long before our first garden somehow we seemed to show
that a day would come along
to make our bloom bestow.
Long before our first goodbye somehow we seemed to wail
that a day would come along
to make our love curtail.
