Be Better Than Ourselves (A Father's Prayer)

My child
Be better than ourselves
Your mother and I
Learn the mysteries of life, learn the secrets
Deep rich creamy chocolate
Rolling thunder pitch black
Spring rain, autumn leaves in the
Secret dwelling places of our lives
My child
Be better than ourselves
Your mother and I
Learn the history of your life, learn the beauty
Blue, gold, brown
Trading spaces on foreign ground
Pink, yellow, grey
The beauty and joy of you entering into this space
Orange, sparkling red
Bright white energy in the struggle ahead
Violet, purple hue, midnight sky, silver stars
Swirling in the knowledge pool
My child
Be better than ourselves
Your mother and I
Learn the happiness of freedom found
In the deep reaches and accesses of your mind
True freedom ring and then, you can do anything!
Red, black, green
The color of blood, skin, land in the world scene
Beige, rust, touch
Hidden away in a land called trust
Hold close at hand, do not ever forget a
Righteous man's stand
Walk proud and tall, always sing a joyous song
Give thanks to God for keeping you warm
Lion heart, purple-green a suffering scene in life's scheme
Pride cometh before the fall, eventually it happens to us all
Warm and safe in a baby's dream
A cotton candy cloud, soft and sweet, taking on a hue of pink
Forest thick, deep, dark, cool, dense, unrelenting
Cascading out of the knowledge pool
Teach one; reach one, make your life complets!
My child
When I ask
"Be better than ourselves
No shame, no pain just a prayer for a legacy gain to
Improve our strain to
Place a mark on this world of great beauty with
A 'Southern' name
Living a life with your head held high
Knowing no one can ever touch the red-orange fire burning in
Keep you head to the sky!
With a feather fluff touch of a hand
Always walk with a straight and narrow stand
Lifting your arms to the Heavens
Breathing deep rich expansive joy as all your tomorrow's explode For
All to feel and explore
My child
Be better than ourselves
Your mother and I
Candy apple, cherry red passion the final call the
Final extension
A gold mist swirling in white
Flamingo pink sides making you smile just right
Yellow sky, blue glow atop a waxy mask
Dripping scented opium rosebuds
A true sign, a sexual repast
Picking orchids in a field
Whispering sweet nothings in an ear
Living life to the full, loving someone not being cruel
Having babies two maybe three
Can you feel it?
Enriching the world with
Kings and Queens!
Only then my child can you dream of
Being better than ourselves!

Poetry is what makes me whole and keeps me sane all at the same time. You are born a poet, a storyteller, it is a part of what you are, a great gift from God. You can be taught to put words on paper, only those with a poet's Soul can make you feel those words deeply! I hope all of you feel me. :-) more…
