battle weary

will i survive this fight tonight
or will i ride this Beast into the ground
despair and chaos are gathering forces
and threaten to tear my castle down

meek is the man who stays his sword
when evil gathers at the gate
but one look 'pon my bleak horizon
and the strongest man would hesitate

with shrill war cries and resounding drums
my adversaries appear overwhelming
how can i face such insurmountable odds
when the enemy lies inside, me

All Father i pray for steady hands
and as this weary fight begins
keep my sword tip towards my foe
and let the blade turn not, within

Note: the All Father is a reference to Norse mythology. it's one of many names for the god, Odin.
