Awakening

Mike Lee

Taking refuge in sleep
allowing the world to pass by
life seen as cheap
mimicing a corpse, though not to die
dreams, an amusement of the mind
solitary nonetheless
what comfort you will find
your sanity will stress
images with no foundation
protecting fragile beliefs
automatic ego placation
though doubt is reef
dawn and fear
both appear as one
a rolling tear
on the rising sun
