Athena's Road
How do I become aware of myself?
My inner being, essence of soul
Is it wrapped up and hidden in my red jumbled up curls?
Or found near the bottom of the soles of my feet?
Calloused that they may be, from all the tending and running
like squirrels gathering seed
Is it found in my too much worry of today or is it in my too much lipstick from last night?
Perhaps it stays in my childhood
Like all the big blue monsters (that I swear)
were sleeping under my bed
Far, far from my sight
Couldn’t this all be just a simple thing?
Like sharpening a pencil or watching water
………….as it slowly fills up the sink
Does it lie behind my cries, or rest near my laugh?
I think it is evermore, a changing inexplicable thing
Good liars have made mine launch into melancholy
until seize found his place
Then I had to start all over from creation
Loosing every recognizable footstep
Downpours
Treasure maps
If only I had 11 more minutes
I feel her persistence, for she bellows and bangs
as she claws up my back
Ruth, Jacqueline, help me!
Couldn’t all this be just a simple thing?
The grapples
The whole institute
Recollection and ascent……
A new birth
How do I become aware of myself?
My inner being, essence of soul
Centering an island of passages
I am wrapped in my solace
as the tiny leaves brush my toes
I think that this might just be another dead end
But I don't know
I don't know
The sign says...
