Asphalt Jungles

Today fades into yesterday,
upon tomorrow's arrival.
And apathy feeds denial,
as wild plants and animals die.

In our plastic world of extremes,
wildlife's collateral damage.
So when jets need clear skies,
birds are just annihilated.

We dedicate our existence,
to a utopia of steel.
And survive in asphalt jungles,
shadowed by of our achievements.

Our planet's irrevocably
being changed to a barren sphere.
For greed's the legacy of fools,
touted by prophets of progress.

Man's dominion over His world,
contributed to His conceit.
And now museum exhibits,
catalog the treasures He's lost.

Many of my poems reflect the uniqueness and special circumstances of my upbringing. more…
