Ashes of the Day

Ashes of the day fall all around,
Leaving behind a dusty trail.
Burning our hearts start the day,
Only to sputter slightly and fail.

Time has beaten us all slowly,
Burying us long before our time.
Our shoulders burdened with the world,
Leaving us prisoners to fates crime.

Each day a different divide,
Breaking our spirit and leaving us blind.
Your dreams will only bring you pain,
It is better to shield your mind.

Remember that living is a lie,
We can only pretend to be real.
It is the cruel irony of the world,
That we must act and never feel.

The only truth is that today will end,
And tomorrow will be born again.
Try to find yourself before tonight,
Or you may find your dreams will end.

Cold our hearts end the day,
If you find tomorrow who will care?
