As I Bleed

The feel of deathless paper
Worn well on a veneer of anticipation
 Angers the sense when fretted
By the feelings on an inclination
 Stopped dead by a hesitation
That dreams of a world without eyes-
 That punish in their treasons
 In the harlotry of sight
And the wounded pride of silence
 Hears the heart beat louder
Like a clock on the wall
Marking time that flees like thunder
The attempt is in the shoulder
Slackening to strengthen a hand in wisdom
 Echoing in my chainless pain
 Does the winter's keeper
 Tell the snow to drive
It's ageless breath upon my reason
Lorded over like a nameless brand
Whose mind is bound to silence
Whose hands are full of need
That takes to live on paper
That breathes just as I bleed.
