As Destiny Is Written

Sputter of ancient light, on tongues of flame,
well lit in spark, this oratory of wizened lips.
Hearken well words uttered in sane refrain,
scraped from Plato's skull, in rattling chips.

Hear the hiss of all these hallowed giants,
who pilfered the records of primordial clays.
They know your ilk n' centuries compliance,
pick your bones with answers of better days.

Listen well, the forensic clues abide in bone,
in tar begotten in well and river's vein of hope.
Privy the tempestuous rise of bi-pedal clone,
n' his frenetic inability to maintain rise n' cope.

Enlightened discourse, pearls choking swine,
n' rebellious ape of Eden fame who slips face.
Turning his cheek in timid fear, ever to refine,
his own forlorn destiny, deaf and mute in race.

Four foot-races of 'man' come and gone afar,
this fifth trial mankind's final fate rests in vain.
Upright in mockery of a past, does less by far,
hear cry precede your own and feel the pain!

Tracy Bollinger

Always liked to write and have written poems periodically over the years. I've never shared them withanyone except for immediate family. Decided to take the plunge and put some out 'there'. But bearwith me, I don't really know what I'm doing. This is therapy of sorts and I hope to let go of the need to rhyme. It's a mental condition. I recently found out my grandmother used to rhyme all herletters to anyone. Go figure. I hope you all enjoy my ranting! I do like what I've seen other's post. more…
