Anniversary For All

The cannons have ceased and the gun fire has stopped,
Planes have quit flying with the bombs they would drop.
Soldiers shall finally return to their countries and homes,
Reunited with their families, never again to be alone.
The war that they fought, they fought brave and true,
So that freedom will always reign for me and you.
Thousands gave their lives for us, never to return,
In their memory the torch of freedom must always burn.
To those who have died and to those who still live,
And to their country a great sacrifice they did give.
On their heroic deaths was born a victorious day,
A day to remember them all no matter where they lay.
An Anniversary to a war we will all sadly share,
To show we haven't forgotten and that we still care.
Veterans and comrades will gather across the land,
Victory for freedom we proudly stand.
On Victory in Europe Day we should all take the time,
To remember those who laid their lives on the line.
Thank the veterans that are standing next to you,
On that victorious day the gave of themselves too.
