Anguish (revised)
I remember the days when you were mine.
Our time was short and our love was blind.
Openend my arms only to find, You would cut through my heart like wind through a chime.
You were a lost girl with a heart of gold.
One look in your eyes and my heart was sold.
Saw the future, watched us grow old.
You broke down these walls and straightened this frown.
When we made love the energy would fill this house.
The walls came alive and the roof just lifted, then under the moonlight our bodies would glisten.
You were mine if only you would listen.
Has anyone seen this lost girl that was all mine?
The one that loved me not the one thats blind.
Just need to know she is gonna be fine?
Need to know how she feels inside?
Need to know if she still has my heart,
and does she nurcher it or is it alone in the dark?
You never understood that I would give up all these games.
Just so one day we could share the same last name, but you just ran away because you were scared.
But still used me as your safety net.
I played along and caught you when you fell.
I longed for your smell, I longed for your touch.
I needed your love.
But I needed to grow strong and pick myself up out of this dump.
Feels like I've just woken up.
Like i've been staggering around like Im drunk.
So yesterday I said goodbye.
With no vessel big enough to catch the tears I cried.
They just soaked this pillow and my eyes reflect so much sorrow.
My shoulders feel as if a weight has been lifted,
But if you could see my heart its wrapped in a rose thats wilted, and its stem chokes me and restricts my blood flow.
Time will heal these wounds and this rose will rot.
Remove its thorns then I can grow strong.
Finally I will find the place where I belong.
But this path is dark.
Not much light from shadows, and I'am walking alone towards green meadows.
Eventually I will leave all this bitterness and anger aside.
Take a deep breath and take it all in my stride.
I will always remember the days you were mine.
Then take comfort in the fact that I cant turn back time.
