An Impossible Dead End

An Impossible Dead End

You are so close, yet far away
The thought of it makes me fear
Of losing you and your impact
On my life which is very dear
Meeting you in a strange place
Torn apart with despair
Yet I find myself thinking of you
In the midst of the midnight air
I was confused about myself
It seemed so cut and dry
That my current life as a man
Would end up saying good-bye
But I saw a bright white light
That gave illumination
To the darkest thoughts that had sent me
Into desperation
They say that time is the best healer
And so they may be right
But good things can happen
To people overnight
Meeting you has been a blessing
But also a double-edged sword
That's piercing through my heart
My witness is The Lord
We are so similar yet different
Our difference is night and day
But you're always there to tell me
That everything is okay
If we take down our barriers
Like the Berlin Wall
We'll see that we could have
Happiness after all
So don't let me go another night
Losing sleep over what can't be
Reassure me that there is
A hope for you and me.
