After a Party

I raced to catch the sun to
Keep it from its eclipse. I
Hoped to stop that moment with me
Sitting beside you.

A single instant letting me forget
All of my trials and troubles
And loss of wind,
Defining simplicity as two.

Quick as a savage breeze we
Flew this endless journey -
A vain search for a terminus;
A sun setting in a sea of blue.
