Adolescence

At night when you stare into a star
You can drift off into afar
Sometimes this star can make you cry
Make you so sad that you are willing to die
But you can stare a little longer
And it is not so bad
You can think of the good times that you had
Then the next time you cry could be tears of joy
From the memories you had as a girl or boy
A star can always help you think
It can straighten your life when it has a kink
Sometimes a friend does not seem enough
When you lose your worries for a moment
They will never be as tough
You may think a star is just a fire in the sky
But to me it is a companion I will never deny
When and if there is a time of need
There is a friend in the sky that my thoughts will feed
Until it is time for my life to end
And I will die knowing God gave me a best friend
