A Troubled Mind

A man can get a troubled mind,
when in this life he's left behind.
All his dreams, they seem so dead,
and he ends up in his own head.

When those things he sought seem to be lost,
and he begins to add up all the cost.
When he looks back on all his mistakes,
he is saddened and his soul aches.

He wonders if there is any hope,
And worries how he will cope.
He wants to run and hide,
but he is left battling his pride.

He's concerned about tomorrow.
Will it bring his heart sorrow?
Or will there be something to set him free,
or clear his path where he can see?

He is bound by the thoughts he will think.
They will soon lead him to drink.
More worry and fear will fill his heart,
and self-pity will soon start.

What can he do to battle his mind,
and leave depression far behind?
He seeks peace with no strength to try,
wanting to regain the spark in his eye.

Sometimes he is troubled, when he longs to be glad.
Especially when it seems he's lost all he had.
Sometimes this world can be so unkind,
and leave him with a troubled mind.
