A sun of a century set today

A Sun of a century set today
-----------------------------------
After shining gloriously
For a period extraordinary
Precisely a century- a rarity
Of Nature's lavishness to him
Expended from her
Treasure house of time

A bit weary he was now looking
Old and worn out
Petal by petal falling
Yet not ready to withering
Though time hurries on
To give birth to autumn as unfair king

I asked him once
Don't you regret that
Good old days are gone
And in the midst of the garden
You are now left alone
Oh how can I stop the stream from flowing on

The Sun is shining
But with a faint smile
And the wind is blowing
But with a beating chill
Still I am groping
For a life so amazing

May be glorious is heaven
But earth is no less joyous
That I would love to be born
Here again and again
I wish all those years were chained
And me not a temporal affair

That all would have so realized
And God in particular
Over such funny wishes of mine
Be confused and resigned
For my sake even, paving the way
For centuries to bask away

While the Sun was still shining
The day was steadily losing
Its sheen and glamour
And towards twilight
It was getting nearer
And the night was not far

For how long the centurian
Would hold intact his breath
When life slowly softening into death
East was his dearest
But azrael lured him
Into the paradise of west
As the infinite way
Of today, tomorrow and yesterday………..
