A Smile You See
traveling long dusty roads
scrapes and tear's adorn us.
growing weary we seek shelter
a tree for shade or a quiet stream perhaps.
our journey sometimes tedious
often lonely, yet continue we must.
sometimes we climb to lofty places
but often it is the valleys we must cross.
into shadows where terrors abound,
or worse, the dry thirsty desert
where no one is found.
days go by, all hope is waning,
strength almost gone.
when into your life a stranger appears.
cracked and parched, burdens lifted,
strength restored, hope revived.
one final gift as we go our separate ways.
a simple thing but precious to me
a smile you see is a gift from a friend!
