A Shore Thing

I collected three seashells
during my stroll this morning
I walked for miles along the shoreline
funny how I caught myself
veering off toward the tide
regardless of my direction
I took a dip later in the morning
I swam for an hour
the beach started to get crowded
so I headed back
walking in the wet sand
my mind drifts into her calm waters
out into the Atlantic
had it not been adrift all morning?
this is what made me rise at dawn
this is what comes crashing over me
like a tital wave of emotion
and it's current carries me away
I try to tell myself... let it be
as the sound of waves crash continuously
