A Remembered Goodbye

We lay within summer's treasures as we said our farewells
where warm riches did abound and peaceful serenity dwells
The gold disk of summer's day reflect'd off shimmering ponds
calls of comfort from birds cuddled within covered fronds
Shadowed warmth of summer's night richly lit by moon
silver light cast to bed for those who find sleep soon

The day passes as I endeavor to remember everything...this day...this night...

Sunlight flows over her through the leaves as she rests in the meadow
my eyes follow sunbeams as they caress her softly in light and shadow
I feel the breeze that moves the leaves as it reaches out in soft embrace
lightly touched in gentle kisses while tenderly moving her hair from her face
Sharing the sweetest fragrances of summer's bounty to breathe
faint comfort that all are calling of the loss of her leaving on this eve

It is my memory, it is my dream so give me this because it is how I remember it....

I watched her eyes sparkle as she told me of the places she will see that day
wonderful things to experience in a place so very far away.
I heard and saw her joy, as I quietly listened knowing the time was soon
but she had given me this day to remember the time together under our moon

Alas, my terrible memory, all detail will surely leave, but our sweet summer day will always be with me.

There are moments of fear of loss...
while trying to remember a dream
The memories flow as parts are lost ...
like water through a stream
It could be more like a hand thru mist...
that it may but momentarily exist

Perhaps the fact is that...we mourn most what we miss.
