A Poem

Juliette Aurora 1997 (USA)

My heart is as delicate as a rose;
For a long time, it has been froze;
I've let some in, but each was a mistake;
All of their feelings turned out to be fake;
My hope for love had completely disappeared;
I'd probably never find it, I feared;
I was going through the toughest strife;
You then walked into my life;
Throughout it all, I was not alone;
You picked me up, and the real you was shown;
I could see, but my heart was blind;
You were not like those other guys;
Your words were true right from the start;
They came from the deepest depths of your heart;
In the beginning, I tried to push you away;
You stood your ground and decided to stay;
You showed compassion, and my tears were erased;
Eventually, a smile took their place;
Your true feelings were starting to show;
From the heart, they began to flow;
Deep down, I felt the same way;
I still feel it to this very day;
Our love has continued to conquer it all;
I am finally safe, never again to fall;
You took my hand and led me away from the hate;
What we have now is a sign of fate;
Don't let it go like grains of sand;
You officially have my heart in your hands.
