A Partisan Band

A Partisan Band

The shots rang out in the dense woods.
It is guerrilla soldiers attacking convoys of British goods.
Into the forest and swamps they run,
for this battle nobody has won.
They get away with such swift illusion
leaving the British with no conclusion.
Tarleton himself could not track him down,
and Tarleton is the cruelest heart around.
Sweet potatoes to a British officer he gives.
The British officer is lucky he lives.
His men fight with the brute strength of ox
under the command of the “Swamp Fox.”
