A Life Lost

On August twenty fifth nineteen eighty two
God blessed us with baby number two.
The nurse placed him gently in his Daddy's arms
and the look in his eyes made my heart grow warm.
He looks like an injun, you said with a grin
But little did we know the kind of trouble we'd soon be in.
He was blessed with his Daddy's sky blue eyes that
could pierce your soul and make it shine.
He was nothing less than a work of art
and we three loved him with all our heart.
He was taken from us at a tender young age
And our hearts are now filled with sorrow and rage.
So, Dear God I ask you for only these things
Help his Father and Brother
And most of all God
Keep Travis enveloped in Angel wings

Lieselotte Emery

Poetry to me is a vacation, an outlet, a good cry, and laughter till your sides ache. I cannot remember a time when I did not read or write poetry, and will continue to do so until my eyes close for the last time. more…
