A HILL (Poem #39)

A hill can take you up to a wonderful sight,
Or can lead you back down so fast you have fright.
On the other side you can meet with such pleasure
So much Joy and happiness too much to measure.
The struggle on up can make you grow stronger,
The quick way down, you may want to be longer.
Life has its thrills and chills with its ups and downs,
Into a world full of challenges we bound.
So as you struggle on the way up, you can,
Think of the glide down with an exciting land

Jean Gorney

I wrote a poem for my daughter and new son-in-law and read it at their wedding reception in 1997. People have been encouraging me ever since. I try to write up-beat and happy poetry. My poetry has been in many anthologies, newspapers, church bulletins, etc. I won a small contest once. I self-published some small(4x5)books with about 16 poems in each that can be used as greeting cards. I include an envelope for mailing. Check them out on my FB page under Jean Magill Gorney. more…
