A Diver's Paradise

Deep within the ocean blue
Another world of beauty lies.
Fauna and flora; every hue
Is captured by a diver's eyes
For each and all his own turf vies.

Darting here and darting there,
A school of angel fish swish by
As swift as fins and tails would dare
With lightning speed they seem to fly
Through their underwater world sky.

Among varied shades of coral
Crabs, and lobsters in peace reside,
Safe from hands that would harm them all.
Creeping, crawling, going inside
A garden where starfish abide.

Anemones of pink and blue
Are peeking in and peeking out
To catch a glimpse, a glimpse of you
A stranger to their world, no doubt
Where sharks move stealthily about.

Barbara Cadogan Claim this poet

I am a Registered Nurse, and first started to write poetry when I was about 18 years old. I have written several poems on a variety of subjects, and enjoy poems that are light and filled with humor. I feel that a good poem like a painting, is able to evoke a variety of emotions, whether sad or cheerful, angry or sympathetic. My goal in life is to learn as much as I can, and to spread peace and good cheer to many. Above all, to be respectful and helpful to my fellow man. more…
