A Die-hard's Lament

A fan of hoops, I am a die-hard...
And I will die cheering for my team's
Every game (as I have been doing the last
Thirty short years), whether I see
Them play at home, or (as almost always)
Just content listening to Chick on radio.
And as a fan, I believe that I am as die-hard
Of my team as Dustin, Steven, Brad and Jack.
I believe that my team's many championships
(Totalling nine and counting...) are for
The "N" (National) of the "NBA"--only.
So why the heck (pardon me) do I keep hearing
And reading about 'em as "World Champions"?
Hey, Jack--tell me. I can handle the truth!!!
This summer, there is a World Championship
Of the sport, and the team (country) that wins it
Naturally will be the true "World Champions."
Am I complaining? I should be so ashamed!!!
I guess, the title--"World Champions"
For my team--simply sounds and reads better.
