A Darkness

A Darkness
By Cheyenne hutchins

It's funny how things can change.
Like when people let you down,
And that once happy smile
Turns into a pathetic frown.

Well, when You were little,
It was about stolen animal crackers.
But now it's turned into stolen hearts
And then you find out they're only heartbreakers.

Remember when you played with your imagination?
And you believed in the magic?
You were fighting off dragons and dressing up.
When life gets harder we get lost in all the logic.

Growing up we're always searching
Trying to find people who care
People who understand us
Because loneliness is something we can't bear

As the years pass us by
We have forgotten that we're not alone
We cry out for help
But face things on our own.

Heartbreak, it hurts
It kills us deep inside
It keeps us empty
You walk along asking yourselves if they knew you cried.

You cry yourself to sleep
You hold your pillow tight
It gets so hard to breath
But don't lose this fight.

When I was little
I was so carefree
But now life is filled with sadness
Pain, and misery.

Once when I was little
I was never on my own
But now I'll be in a room of people
And still feel alone
