A child,....A war

A CHILD,....A WAR

THERE HE GOES, THERE HE GOES

THE APPLE OF HIS FATHER'S EYE
BUT THE DAD, HE IS NO MORE
ALL THE SON WILL DO IS CRY

oh daddy, daddy
please don't leave me here
I pray and I pray dear dad
you'll take me from this fear

you've gone away, so far away
come back, come back and stay
war, what is war, daddy hear this plea
please return to me

mom oh mom, in kingdom come
tell daddy what he's done to me
there is no one left on this earth
who can give what daddy gives to me

so many, many days, so many days and nights
how far away has dad strayed
oh give him guiding light
mommy send him home tonight

has he gone to be with you
tell me mommy do
if he's gone to be with you
can I follow too

THERE HE GOES, THERE HE GOES
THE APPLE OF HIS FATHER'S EYE
BUT THE MOM AND DAD, THEY ARE NO MORE
ALL THE SON WILL DO IS CRY
