A Brotherhood Of A Few

A fraternal body so small, yet so big in influence,
It is its own universe, contributing in every way--
Big or small, preserve, protect and defend
God's beloved "Blue Marble," home, sweet home to
His every living and breathing creation. And just
Like our universe, the only kind in all galaxies,
This "universe" is the only one in the whole planet.
Honorable and decent men, this band of brothers,
The oldest member, now 92 years young, I have with his
Darling wife and my beloved brother, Rudy...
"Hanging in my bedroom wall."
The farmer among them is the man my father was
When I was a boy...a good long, long time ago
In another world--no longer mine. For mine, now
Is where this universe is a diminishing body--
An exclusive "party of five."
The WW2 hero, shot down in the cold Pacific waters,
And his ever supportive wife (a great, great
Grandniece of one...herself) are understandably proud,
But downright incredulous (still) of the fact that
Their son is "one of the boys" in the band.
