7 A.M in Gaza Street

Dawn broke— like the breaking of a mortar,
Devoid of soft mist and whispering leaves,
Damned by the shrapnel cloud from Tel Aviv,
Raining upon Gaza this strange water.
Which gashes the eyes, and deflates the lungs,
Reducing, bones bare, to a fine powder,
A multitude of missiles making men flounder,
But their most lethal weapon were their tongues.

Go to where it's "honoured and marvellous",
Where death straggles and horror runs chargeless.
If you could see, the writhing children's eyes,
And their crimson mouths which quell their cries.
You would realise they are worth your tears;
For they would consume your wildest fears.
