(My) American Dream

I have a dream,
that everyone stops fighting,
gets rid of their hate, biases, and prejudices,
instead of shooting, stabbing, and slandering one another,
talk their problems out and get along

I have a dream,
that the dividing walls of race, class, and religion,
and the imaginary ones we have built in our heads,
get torn down, shattered, destroyed,
and we can all be one people, as we were meant to be,
human beings

I have a dream,
That the music on the radio, the boob tube,
playing on smartphones and YouTube,
pop, rock, country, techno,
hip-hop, reggae, and electro,
produce artists that rise to fame by pure talents,
not by sex appeal, or bowing to the will of record execs
I have a dream,
that college students be given a fair chance,
to pay off their loans,
that they're forced into at an early age,
and be able to be what they want to be,
get jobs they actually WANT,
and not settle for less, rolling over and playing it safe,
like mommy and daddy
and that everyone has access to free healthcare,
regardless of the income of the family

I have a dream,
that our candies, sweets, and sodas be made right,
with real sugar,
not crappy, artificial, “corn syrup”

I have a dream,
that every child, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian,
receive a quality education,
regardless of their class, religion, or ethnicity
and have successful careers in the future, making lots of money

I have a dream,
that all the lazy and shiftless abusing the system,
faking illnesses and disabilities, crying poor, producing masses of kids,
not be rewarded with houses, money, and food stamps,
be forced to get jobs and take care of their own,
and not depend on the taxpayers,
and those using these services, receiving government assistance,
be subject to drug tests, monitoring, and home inspections

I have a dream,
of an America that is a land of freedom,
where every man, woman, and child is equal,
every woman is beautiful,
every man is handsome,
every person, rich, middle-class, or poor lives a good life,
every musician is talented, original, their fame is well-earned,
there is no such thing as debt,
only prosperity and success,
sadly, this is only a dream,
it probably never will become reality
