"Noble Nobel Hopes"

I'm was chemist,
but know I am dead.
Very few know me,
but I should be famous.
My name is Henry Kuhn,
and I was a German
living under Nazi rule.
I won the Nobel prize,
but was forced to decline it.
I did great research
on vitamins and carotene
to receive my great recognition.
But I never received my recogntion.
All my work amounted high
but was torn by ungrateful leaders.
I guess that is how life is,
you may work your whole life
and have it ripped to shreds.
But now I am gone
and there's nothing I can do.
