The Drunk

Greg Roundtree 1961 (Georgia)

The Drunk
As she yelled You go to Hell! I thought,  I just can't win.
For here I am a drunken man, thrown out the door again!
Out the door like times before, I slip into the night.
To find that bar that isn't far, and drink till morning light!
An as I drink I start to think, between each shot of rye.
Today I'll quit this drinking bit! O what a drunken lie!!
Then down the hatch another batch, of this poison sin!
For here I am a drunken man inside this bar again!
