You Are My Friend

You Are My Friend

I have these thoughts  , consuming me
Just seem to never , set me free ...

From life's troubles , near and far
While at home , or in my car

Mankind seems , to be unkind
Loyal friends , are hard to find

Remembering how , you came to me
While on the playground , scraped my knee

You quickly ran , and took my hand
You seemed to know , and understand ...

That we had something , hard to find
Your eyes so loving , heart so kind

As time moved on , we grew as one
While finding mischief , having fun

Good times , bad times , those in between
When I was troubled , you were not mean

Friendship , such a loving tool
You finding it , is such a jewel

Kindness , love and empathy
Are all the things , you've shown to me

Honesty , loyalty , forgiveness found
You've proven that , love has no bound

Essential aspect , no finding fault
Shared expectations , no assault

More giving , sharing , supportive mind
Spontaneous combustion , the loving kind

You've shared with me , your thoughts unfurled
And welcomed me , into your world

And now I stand , and stare at you
Your face , once clear , has now turned blue

You've left me now , departed this earth
As I'm wondering how , to find the worth ...

Of a priceless bond , that I once knew
And to find a friend , to help me through

The sorrow that , I can't explain
And ease this very , unspeakable pain
