Composers and poets get to hover, escape or engage,
Laugh, cry, love, or rage
In a universe where they alone color the page
That holds everyone, no one, or one soul at a time,
To eschew or embrace form, rhythm, and rhyme,
And seek to tweak the hearts of others,
This sphere’s sisters and brothers,
Share smiles or tears with darkest night,
Prepare the soul for eventual flight,
And create music where there is no sound,
To elevate or bring around
Beings transcending flesh and bone
That’s composers and poets, the existence they hone
