Bewitched to live

Arpan Dey 2004 (West Bengal)

I give a deep sigh
It's so very hard to live
But it's harder to die
As we're bewitched to live.

If it was so easy to die,
Poor beggars at railway stations
To say a mournful bye-bye
Would be the first ones.

Trains thundering along before them
And no secure future
But they don't wanna go, all the same
They still wanna live, sure.

I give a deep sigh
It's so very hard to live
But it's harder to die
As we're bewitched to live.

We get used to everything
Just to stay alive.
And as long as we're living
To reach an equilibrium, we strive.

But we never reach one
Till we are well dead.
And death can't be undone,
So live the life instead.

I give a deep sigh
It's so very hard to live
But it's harder to die
As we're bewitched to live.
