Art, My True Love

You were always there
From the time I can remember
Creeping up on me
In my saddest hour
You embraced me, lifting me
Up with words to write poetry

Art,My True Love

You never have foresaken me
Awakening my senses of
Self-expression
For without you
I would not,could not be,free
Me!

I am who I am
You inspire me to paint
And sketch and dance and sing
Giddy as a school girl

Art,My True Love

You surround me with feeling
Like an emotional wave
Whether I'm happy or sad
Angry or scared
You refuse to give up
The past and the present
Representing the future

Art,My True Love

Textures like the ripples on a pond
Or the hard and craggy shore
Smoothness of silk
Soft as yarn that you weave

Art,My True Love

You create pictures without words
With paint and pencil
Immortal statues
You sculpt by hand
Or intricately woven baskets
To be filled with love
Clothing that is part necessity
Part want of fashion
That beguiles,entices,enraptures
With glitz and gold
Serquins and silver

I represent myself
To the world
Through
Art,My True Love

You inspire me to be
The best that I can be
Without you,I would only be
Half a shell
I would not see the colors
Of the world
They live in the sky and the sea
Mountains and streams
Emotions that live in cities and towns
Preachers and protestors
Shout to be seen
Purpose is driven through you

Art ,My True Love

From musical show tunes
And melodies
You always inspire me
