When the girl has to explain

I thought I had everything under control,
savouring those little moments to help my soul.
I thought if I confessed it would've been better,
like the weight lifted off my shoulders from my sweater.
Instead, it was the opposite of what was planned.
Who knew how heartless could be a man.
I expected texts to flood up Telegram,
every little insult to show how stupid I am.
It's not every day a girl confesses in a dm,
especially if the girl is an uptight U.N.
I thought doing it would make me glad,
finally accepting it in front of my man.
Oh no, did I just call him that,
screw it cause without him I'm mad.
Plug in my earphones to block out the voice.
The one telling me I made the wrong choice.
When you gaze in my direction I come to life.
I see the humble affection dance in your eyes.
It's that stare that gets me every time,
wondering why you wouldn't want to be mine.
I guess that's just how the patriarchy works,
a girl confesses and her feelings get hurt.
The guy on the other hand doesn't even need to try,
crack a joke and the girls keep coming every time.
Having fantasies of something that never started is beyond bizzare,
my heart torn and left in scars.
For him who gazed but never talked.
I hope the next girl loves you as you are.
