Revisiting A Lost Love

Once bitten, twice shy.
I don't know why
The draw
To revisit a lost love.

Perhaps it's because of our own ego
And insecurities
A chance to see
The what might have been.

Perhaps we still have feelings.

Broken hearts need healing
And a sense of closure.
What happened before might have left and open door
That beckons.

I reckon if the door is open
We might be tempted to again walk through it.
And for those of us foolish enough to do it,
We might relive the good times for a minute.

The possibilities are infinite.

But more likely than not
Things will play out the same
And all those problems that you forgot
Will rear their ugly heads again.

It may be pleasure
It may be pain,
Some of us will do it just because
We are drawn to the downs
Of the siren's sound
And cannot help
But revisiting lost loves...

Maybe enough has changed
For us to find that love again
Or maybe it ends the same.

We'll only have ourselves to blame.

Once to be, always shall be...to be not, now and for all time shall never be attained. So forever and always now be, and I shall try to be a topped rank poet again. more…
