ECLIPSE (The Days of Covid)

Suddenly death was viral
Casting chiropteran shadows over the earth.
War, no longer a game of guns,
But of plots, vaccines and luciferin.

Unwitting couriers bore the plague
And a pocket full of posies could not abate.
We washed our hands much like Pilate
Still, Corona slid through the gates.

We all in face masks conform
Hiding from an enemy we do not see;
Social distancing becomes the norm
Caution or fear, we cannot tell.

Snail like we emerge,
Seeking solace from the chaos.
Resolutely we arise
For we are made of sterner stuff.
