2021/02/10 ~ Love, The Source Of My Pain

I loved him without a shadow of a doubt
And he was the one my heart and soul craved.
The day he tore my heart out,
Was the day I thought he dug his own grave.

Eleven months later, I spoke to him again.
His words, they wove themselves deep into my heart
Did I ever really fall outta love with him?
Did I just convince myself, leaving out that little part?

Words of comfort, from him, was like a caress,
Those words of bitter parting cuttin' deeper than a knife.
God knows I longed for his gentle, tender kiss
Even through those months of painful, bitter strife.

Fear, stark and true, flies through my every vein.
Love, like a river flows through my blood, the source of all my pain.
This whole race and game of Love is making me insane,
As the poison and its antidote head for my brain.

Scared of commitment, that's understandable, right?
The chains holding me here run from the sky down to the ground.
He said he felt he wasn't enough for me, let me go to live my best life
'Cause I wanted more than what was here in this small town.

How do I know the truths from the woven lies?
How do I know when to roll the dice? Take another chance?
What if he goes away and I don't see him before he dies?
How do I know when to take Love and lead it in this dance?
