Choices

I would rather hurt
Than to see you smile
I would rather make no memories at all
Then to be near you

I will grow up someday
But for now
I will be alone today

I will grow up someday
I will be in good company
I will find my way

I would rather die
Than to see you thrive
I would rather lose myself
Than to see you win

I would rather fail
Than for you to greed
From any success
I will not be what you think you need

I have grown up
The trees are not green
The leaves I had to hide
They are nothing but soil

I will grow into something better I said
But as I grew, I pushed everyone away
I grew like a malnourished tree
I refused to show my leaves
Now I have grown
I feel kind of dead…
