Hope
Ashlee D Mudd 1981 (Oklahoma)
This loneliness
This emptiness
Spreads through my body
Like a cancer, growing and
Becoming worse with each
Passing day, until finally
I am left a withered shell
Of my former self.
Oh how I yearn to be
Happy once again
Wild and carefree
Like a floating butterfly
Riding the gentle breeze
To find that sweet nectar
Of permanent contentment.
I walk through life
In a dream-like state
Worries and fears
Veering me off course
Until I am lost in
My own darkness and despair.
But all is not dark
A bright ray of light
Pierces the obscure
Shadows of my mind
And fills me with hope.
Hope that pushes me
Onward, toward something
I have been searching for
My entire life.
HOPE
LOVE
HAPPINESS
FRIENDSHIP
