Black Every Day

Black Every Day

I’m Black every month, every hour, every minute in the day. I’m Black when I open my eyes, when I open my mouth, every day when I leave my house.

When I walk down the street or go to the market for some meat, sometimes I wonder what you see. Do you see fear, do you even care, do you want to hear what experiences, & thoughts I have to share?

I don’t want your job, I will create my own opportunities to feed, clothe and house my communities. I will be that beacon of light that shines through generations that show we didn’t give up on the fight.

The fight for dignity & respect. The fight for others to become correct. The fight to live and strive always letting you know that I’m alive. Yes, I will live not in fear but with joy, optimism, hope and confidence that I am somebody regardless what you see, say speak or spoken.

With my smile, keep healing hearts that were broken, helping those that have fallen, lifting them up to see another tomorrow. I’m Black not just for a month but always and forever today and with grace, tomorrow.
