My Greatest Hero

I like you, adore you & deeply love you
You're the greatest hero in my history;
Even though you're strict, even though you're bossy,
There's still no better man for me.

Sometimes you hurt me with your shouts & barks,
Sometimes you make me feel less loved;
But despite all this, I still love you so,
And you're still the greatest gift I received from above.

Sometimes it squeezed my heart seeing you bored and down
I want so bad to make you happy & erase your frown;
Even though all I wanna do is ease your troubles,
Oftentimes, I ended up making your worries double.

If there's one thing in the world I really wanna do
That would bring extreme happiness for you;
But I feel so lacking cause every time I try,
I ended messing things up and making you cry.

I want to make you happy, I want to give you everything,
But what can I give? Right now I don't have anything;
I don't have anything to offer, what can I do?
No matter how hard I try, I ended up making you blue.

Please don't give up on me, you're my only hope
Without you by my side, I'm not sure I can cope;
The only thing in the world, that I really want to have,
Is a genuine smile & making you proud, Dad.

I'm really sorry If I troubled you so
But deep inside, I love you more than you'll ever know;
Despite all my imperfections, thank you for embracing me lovingly,
No superman or batman can be a better hero for me.

Thank you Dad!

Maxie

Mom of 3. Poetry is my first love and have written a lot back when I was in high school... and then, life happens. Ideas and rhymes dried up. But the other day I was going through old stuff and found my collections of poems that I've written back in the day. Hoping to share an immortalize them especially for my kids. So that they'll know mommy was really cool once :D more…
