I Had A Dream

there's a special place in Heaven
called "the garden of the soul"
when God calls home a child,
this is where they go
it's nestled in a valley where peaceful waters flow.

I see a little angel with a smile on his face
and I ask the little angel " why are you in this place?
He said "my name is David I did not live for long
but will you take a message? will you sing my song?

My mother really loved me
she was broken when I left;
she walked the floor and crying
she held me to her breast.

I had no way to comfort her, I had no words to say
I did not want to leave her
but God took me anyway

tell her that I love her, that she did nothing wrong
I know cause Jesus told me
she carries on my song.

I remember how she held me
and all the prayers she said
the endless hours she worried
and the countless tears she said

I remember grandma rocking in her chair
singing to me softly as she gently brushed my hair
all the loving hands tried to ease my pain
but all of that is over for I am well again

how I long for you to see me now that I'm okay
for now I am growing in a very different way

heaven is so lovely, the flowers never die
the streets are made of gold
and no one ever cries

one day I will see you and one day you will know
that in that special garden

little angels grow
